Maureen's Commitment to Collierville

Committed to Our Future

I oppose the apartments currently being built in Collierville. I propose a moratorium on any new apartment entitlements. Unfortunately, the apartments presently under construction were given entitlements several decades ago—long before any current Board members were in office. The property owners have vested rights which, if denied, will result in expensive lawsuits against the Town that we will lose.

Decisions we make today shape the long-term future of Collierville. I have voted no on more apartments, no to waivers from applicants, and no to relocating entitlements from one property owner to another owner. My experience as Alderman and Vice Mayor has uniquely prepared me to step into the role of Mayor, guiding Collierville towards a promising future. By upholding our commitments to responsible growth, public safety, great schools,  and fiscal responsibility, we will keep Collierville the premier community in the Midsouth.

Committed to Our Safety

One of the primary reasons folks choose to move to Collierville is its reputation for safety. Collierville boasts top-notch Police, Fire, and new EMS Departments, whose successes are driven by robust recruitment and retention strategies and are further enhanced by the best equipment, resources, training, and competitive wages. Public safety will be my top priority as Mayor, and I will ensure our first responders are fully equipped and supported to serve our community.

Committed to Our Schools

Our Collierville School System is the most sought-after in the area, and our facilities and teachers are unparalleled. Great schools not only make Collierville a desirable community but also directly contribute to high property values. As Mayor, I will work closely with the Collierville Board of Education to maintain the outstanding education our students deserve.

Committed to Our Fiscal Responsibility

Fiscal responsibility, like public safety and great schools, is integral to our community’s high quality of life. As your Mayor, I will be dedicated to maintaining low tax rates and conservative fiscal policies. Collierville’s $110.7 million budget is meticulously vetted each year, prioritizing the needs and wants of our citizens and staff to achieve a State-required balanced budget. This diligent financial management has earned Collierville one of only twelve Moody’s AAA bond ratings in Tennessee, securing our access to the lowest possible interest rates should capital improvements become necessary.
